Ep. 41 : Lost and Found - Juliane Koepcke, Katherine Van Alst & Steven Kubacki

Is there anything scarier than being lost? Sometimes the journey to be found is even worse. Such was the case for these three adventurers who found themselves trapped in unforgiving territory. We'll uncover the hiding place of 8-year-old Katherine Van Alst who disappeared in Devil's Den State Park in 1946. We'll travel to the Amazon with Juliane Koepcke, whose world came crashing down one fateful Christmas Eve in 1971. Stranded in the dense jungle, Koepcke was forced to put one shoeless foot in front of the other after unimaginable trauma. Finally, we'll close with Steven Kubacki's ooky spooky disappearance on the frozen shores of Lake Michigan in 1978. This second part in Elise's "summer series" is sure to inspire, scare and remind listeners that you'd rather not go it alone in the great outdoors. Halee treats us with a tried and true favorite. Upon being rescued, Juliane's wounds were filled with maggots. She likened them to the tips of asparagus sticking out of her arm.

While this is not the same thing Juliane wore during her time in the jungle, I imagine it was similar!
