Carlita Lohmeier was last seen at a store on Hubbell and Fenkell in Detroit, Michigan on November 20, 2009. The store was two blocks from her home on Marlowe. She told her mother she would be back within a few minutes, but she never returned home and has never been heard from again.

"Momma, I'll be right back in a few minutes. I'm just goin' up to Hubble and Fenkell to the store," her mother told WXYZ News.

Eight years later, her family was once again searching the streets of Detroit for a second missing person, Carlita’s granddaughter Dawn Peterson who vanished on May 30, 2017. She was 26 and living in her brother’s home on Plymouth and Mendota.

On April 10, 2018, the body of Mia Patterson was found in the 14000 block of Ward Street on the west side of Detroit. Her remains were identified through DNA months later. Her murder remains unsolved, and the police do not believe the two cases are related.

 Carlita is a widow and left behind five children. Few details are available on her case.
