Lina Sardar Khil was last seen on Dec. 20, 2021, playing on the playground of the apartment complex in north San Antonio, Texas, where her family lives. Her dad reported that her mom stepped away for a moment, and when she returned Lina was gone. The FBI was quickly involved in the search for Lina, but unfortunately there appear to be few leads.
The search effort has been further complicated by conspiracy theories within the San Antonio community that Lina's parents were involved in her disappearance, despite law enforcement clarifying that her family are fully cooperative with the investigation. Some suspect that this gossip is rooted in racism, as Lina's family are Muslim and fled Afghanistan as refugees in 2019. Lina's father assisted US forces in Afghanistan and in turn was brought to America to ensure his family was kept safe.
Khil has brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black jacket, red dress and black shoes when she disappeared. She was also last seen wearing gold bangles, like the ones she is seen wearing in the photo. Lina is about 4 feet tall and 55 pounds, and just turned 4 in February.
